I just changed my muffler system on my 67 Chevelle. I went with 2 and one half inch tubing from headers back to Dynaflow Ultraflow Welded Mufflers and then to tailpipes. I took off the Flowmaster 40's. I had the tailpipes turned down in the rear so the bumpers don't get dirty.
Result: The Dynaflows are slightly quieter and still have that good idle growl. But not so loud that I can't hear the stereo. Much better system in my opinion. The flowmaster 40s were just too loud for me.
