I forgot to to mention that you should make sure the T350 you have is the shorter one and not the long tailshaft version which they used in some trucks and big cars as I understand it.
While I'm at it the flexplate will need changed over to bolt on the T-350 torque convertor and then you may find the 283 had a small dia flexplate and the 305 a large dia one and then the starter may not fit anymore. Just something to watch for.
Also you have to get the downshift cable properly mounted and adjusted.
