I have a 69 396 that doesn't have the VIN stamped on the pad but I've been told they sometimes stamp the VIN above the oil filter boss.  I never looked as it's in a 67 Chevelle anyway.  I don't really know if earlier Chevelles had the VIN on the engine or not.

Subject: [Chevelle-list] ID numbers

Can anyone tell me if the car's serial numbers are always stamped on the pad on the front right of the engine block or are they somewhere else??  I am pretty sure the motor is original, both the engine and the car were "born" in Feb 0f 65.  Any info is appreciated.  Thanks.
