Some come out with the plier  channel lock way otheres are a real PITA Those  I  put a 1/4 hose clap around the finger/Fluted sleave  little back of the backing plate.. spray some WD-40 at it and  work it lose then through till the clamp bottoms out..  Remove the clamp and finish removing it..
