Another trick I use is to wrap the wire with the sticky side out and then go back over it with sticky side down. this will keep the sticky part from getting on your wire if you ever have to remove it. also only use the best tape you can find. most of it will deteriate after only a few months and start to shred and fall off. the best electrical tape I know of is 33 from 3M.... buy a lot of it because I own stock in the company.... lol... not really!!!!     and what Wayne is talking about is probably even better than 33.
