Joe, It would appear that the lacquer thinner isn't removing all the impurities from the column prior to painting. I have three things I would suggest. First use a prepaint cleaner such as Dupont Final Prep instead of lacquer thinner. Second, I used a primer first before top coating ( sand, then clean with Final Prep again then paint). And third, when using E'wood Chassis coat, lay down all your coats before the paint is dry (recoat as soon as you can touch the previous coat and it's not tacky). That Chassis coat has a tendency to lift if you recoat after it is dry. Hope this helps.
