John , not 100% sure about 68 to 72 model years but the 64 to 67 have these line up pin holes below the cowl and at the rear coal spring perch pads... IMHO being off a 1/4 " can be significant in lining up the panels. example only being off 1/4 from the rear to the front , then continue that off setting line to the front end , the radiator frame mounts. are now off 3/8 of an inch
