Granted that it's an odd choice of a 3.70 gear with a 283/glide
combination and why someone would order it is decidedly different, both 3.55 and
3.70 are listed as optional 'Special' performance gears for everything from the
140hp L6 up to and including the L30 327/275 - see http://www.team67.com/67velle/power_teams.htm.
But seeing that 3.70 was the lowest 10-bolt ratio offerered in '67, who knows
what might have been going through the buyers mind when selecting options?
Probably not too many of them ordered, that's for sure.
