I am no expert here ...but aren't there two different options on motors
..... those with "auto park" and those without?
I went to a local parts store and they ordered a rebuilt one in. This one
was "auto park" and had the washer pump built in and it cost me something
like $46.
Not sure of the quality yet. Haven't ran it yet.

I had a similar problem with my 69 Elco. It could be the linkage or
"transmission" is getting sloppy. I seem to recall that I was able to pull
the arm and move it down a couple notches on the spline that the arm mounts
to, and that seemed to help. If your linkage is really bad, I think we have
a few used ones.
