Yes, I have thought of making a wider, narrower duct, but it would have
to be pretty wide since the open area behind the center of the firewall is
so limited. Also, I was trying to avoid having to fabricate a custom duct by
using the Ramair duct, which is fiberglass. It looks like a nice unit. I
could be a little messy with moving the metal since it wouldn't be seen, but
the duct will be very visible. I've also seen ducts that have two horns that
go on either side of the firewall to avoid the problem. This may be another
option.

the car (where the Rudisill duct goes).
