[Chevelle-list] timing questions

Hi all, I set my timing yesterday on my motor with the vacuum advance disconnected.. I set it at 8� BTDC, and it runs great.....until I hook up the vacuum advance again, at which point it starts wanting to stall right off idle, and backfiring out of the exhaust..   any ideas what my problem is?
