I have to agree with John here. I get approx. 93mph with this formula:
"speed" = RPM x tire circumf. x 60 / trans gear x rear end gear x 63371.4
And yes, a 6 cylinder will achieve the same RPM as a V8 at a certain speed given that all else is equal (i.e. tire size, trans gear, rear gear ratio, etc.), you'll just get there a hell of a lot quicker.
