To answer the first question, unless you know all the previous owners of the car including the original owner, then no you can't find out what dealer sold your car unless it was built in Canada. GM of Canada kept records and you can obtain them for a small fee.
The term open differential means one rear wheel drives the car. In other words, you floor it, 1 tire does a burnout. If it were a posi, both tires would be doing burnouts.
