I'm going to share a couple notes with you guys on that speeding ticket. If you aren't into motorcycles just hit delete. This is #1 Ed

Of course, the altitude at Bonneville takes away a lot of horsepower, but the wisdom amongst several veteran speed-record-holding riders was that even at sea level, at least 230 HP would be needed to crack the 200 mph mark. Above that, another 3-5 HP would be required for each each additional mph. And that doesn't even address the question of how much space is required to squeeze out that extra speed. PS: I have been radared at 194 mph on a Honda CBR1100XX. It was on an oval test track that allowed about 170 mph through the banked turns, where you nailed the throttle and glued yourself to the tank as you entered each of the 2-mile straightaways. I was with several other journalists and racers, one of whom was smart enough to pull the mirrors in to the fairing, and who therefore clocked the fastest speed, at 197. I've also hit about 180 at Bonneville, but was running out of space (!) and had to shut down before the wheelspin fully caught up with the revs. Believe me, the ten seconds it takes to squeeze another 100 rpm out of your motor eats up a LOT of space 3-plus miles per minute. It is my educated opinion that unless this guy's bike has at least 250 HP, AND he is a complete and utter idiot (Highway 61 is no Bonneville salt flat, or 4-lane wide test track), AND he has nads bigger than any living human, this simply could NOT have happened. That is too many "ifs" for me to believe. This whole story is bullshit. See my alternate theory in a seperate e-mail, which you may have to get forwarded to you from Riggins. -- JG ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jim Service" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Ed Riggins" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Cc: "Tim Thompson" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; "John Garner" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; "Patrick Hook" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; "Paul Funk" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Wednesday, September 22, 2004 9:19 AM Subject: Re: FW: [Chevelle-list] Off Subject - Speeding Ticket for 205 mph > by the same token, i stopped by the san fran moto club street party this > summer. they has a portable dyno there and were doing tests on anyone's > bike that came along. one guy's suz gsx-r had over 220 rear wheel hp > (228? 235? can't remember) had a turbo kit. looked completely stock > from the outside. > > ------ End of Forwarded Message
