If I remember correctly, it takes around 50-60 hp to turn a TH400 compared to a TH350 that needs 30-40.  On the other side of the coin, it only takes 15-20 hp to spin a manual trans.  What accessories are you running?  That stuff eats hp too.  Maybe your engine needs some more tuning or some more miles to give everything a chance to seat.  What heads are on your 454?

I just had my 66 dynoed. I had put in a worked 454. The desk top dyno quoted 500HP at the crank.

This was done at 5500 ft elevation.

The results were: 301 HP at the wheels. I was hoping for at least 330HP.

The car has a TH400 tranny.

Does this sound about right to you guys?

How much does  the 400 use?
