I can see your point,Andre,but an 8-71 blown BBC isn't going to get great fuel economy no matter what you do to it. If the car were mine,and it isn't,I would forgo the OD idea altogether and go with a built TH400 and low 3series gearing. If you want an overdrive go for a 4l80, if well built they can hadle 1000/1200hp. I do not agree 100% with Clint on the overdrive thing, in my opinion the more gear splits you have(to a limit), the less fuel you will consume.
