Hi Chevelle fans,

I hope I didn't miss too much excitement around here.

So, the latest is that I've been driving the 69 El Camino around and have
put a couple-few thousand miles on it. Still chirps the tires between first
and second if I want it to. People (including me) seem to love that. I've
had a couple of offers for it but I am not exactly sure if I even want to
sell it. At any rate I don't see selling it for at least a little while
unless somebody just waves a huge pile of cash at me.

A couple of interesting things going on with the car. I have the "singing
speedometer" syndrome where when the car is cold, especially if I take off
fast, the speedometer goes into a high pitch whine and the needle stays
pinned. Anybody know if there's something I can squirt in there for that?
The cable and cable housing are new.

I found out while trying to get out of a parallel parking situation in the
snow that I have a posi rear. Neat.

Did anybody come up with a solution for the fact that the chrome finish on
the dome light base causes it to short out the fuse? Driving with no
courtesy lights is a bummer. I think I have to take that thing out and
scrape the chrome finish off the electrical contact areas, and maybe put
some tape in a couple of spots.

I still have no heat (i.e. a heater core leak) and no radio, and the visors
want to fall down at every bump. I could use some suggestions on that last
one too.

Some of the new chrome is pitting already, namely the bed corners in front
and the pieces that run down to the taillight in the rear. That's a bummer.
2 winters outside though. they can be replaced (again) pretty easily.

People are writing and asking me lately why I put a 1958 283 block in it.
Sir Edmund Hillary said it best. "Because it was there."

Happy motoring,
John Nasta
