I think you really need to get a timing pointer and timing tape.  Less than $20 for both.  At 2.45 a gallon. Significantly less power on takeoff and even more pinging. So, I think it’s the gas and not the distributor. I can try a couple of things for better spark like new plugs, cap and rotor.   I saw regular going for $2.45/gal at one place today. Eek.   John Nasta
