Yes, you can get the glass out in 1 piece, you just need to be careful. On the front side of the mirror, I rolled back the rubber gasket. Slid a dull butter type knife between the glass & rubber. SLOWLY rolled the rubber and followed with the knife around the perimeter - careful not to cut into the rubber. (Make sense??)
I had my mirror resilvered locally. I went to an Antiques dealer & asked them who did their mirrors. Turned out to be very cheap to have it done, I did have to wait a few weeks til he had enough resilvering to make it worth his time.
