Well, I got the replacement hose to work. I did manage to
get a little more of a bend into the pump side, which helped. Still the metal
"cap" at one end is lightly touching the rubber part of the motor
mount, but I think it will be ok. For you guys who may have to do this, I found that the best
way was to lightly attach the hose to the pump (so it can still swing), lower
it into place, mount the entire pump (including the belt), tighten the nut at
the back of the pump (from underneath), then snake the box side of the line up
to the box and tighten that. This will give you the ability to find a
comfortable place for the line underneath before tightening it, it's also
easier to lower the pump into place if the line can be moved, and you can find
the path of least resistance for the connection back to the box. I also toyed
with running the line out toward the manifold, but it seemed to be tougher to
get it back to the box with the other end at that angle. It definitely would have
been a much better and easier fit if the box end of the line had a 90 degree bend
like the original and if the pump end had a little more of a bend, but it does
fit if you massage it into place. John Nasta |
