That is what I came up against with my Moser. IMO it should had been powder coated for the money, or at least an option (maybe it was, but it wasn't an option give to me and I failed to think about it until I opened the crate). I asked around and found that the heat would be to much on the internals.

One thing to note... if you go the powder coat way.... you have to give them a bare housing... the bushings and insides will never take the heat.  If it's already together... paint is the only way.  I have to do the same to my rear... i plan to primer it and then paint it a gloss black.... can get the paint from a local store... or eastwood.
 
I like the idea about using the cherry picker .... I was going to paint it on stands... always end up scratching off some new paint...
