If the two Performer RPM intakes won't fit,I doubt
a Victor will fit, either. This question might be a good question to pose over on
Team Chevelle's Performance or Engine forums.

Clint,
I looked again a bit closer this morning.
Edelbrock says the Performer RPM and Airgap will not fit. There's no mention
concerning fitment for the Victor. All three are available for rectangular
ports, but my hood is staying stock, so it's a moot point. The Torker II
doesn't seem to be offered for rectangular heads, so that's not an
option...
Weiland Stealth seems to be the only dual plane
intake that will work for my application. I suppose I could look for the L78
intake too.

Performer RPM and Air Gap IntakeManifolds on 66/67 Chevelles
Chevrolet offered the L78 engine option from
1965-70. None of these 375hp BB's had a low-rise intake. So,surely there's
an aftermarket dual plane out there that will fit your car. It's hard for me
to believe a Victor will fit and a Air Gap won't. Victors are pretty tall
intakes.

Correction: Edelbrock's Performer RPM and Air
Gap is both available in "square bore".

Looking at Edelbrock's website, the only
intake offered for rectangular port heads are the Victor series. I
checked out Weiland, and they offered several, including the "Stealth",
model 8018 described below. Although they menton hi-rise, when I put in
66 Chevelles, they have no special notes...
Available for both oval (8019) and
rectangular port (8018) cylinder head equipped big block Chevrolet
engines, are Weiland's advanced hi-rise "Stealth" manifolds. These are
the most advanced dual plane. 180 deg. intakes on the market. They
combine excellent botton-end performance with an exceptionally broad
power curve that extends to 6800 RPM. They are ideally suited to a
number of applications, including high performance street and marine
use, E.T. Bracket racing, and even RVs, tow vehicles, etc. "Stealth"
manifolds are designed to be used in conjunction with more aggressive
camshaft profiles, high performance ignition and exhaust systems, etc.
They have a square bore carburator pad to accommodate 650-850 cfm
aftermarket carburators.

Good point,,Edelbrock might not offer a
rectangular port Performer. Am pretty sure the Xcellerator is offered
for them,though.
I'm just not a fan of single plane
intakes for a street car,,unless nitrous is used. Nitrous doesn't
really like dual planes.

Thanks Ron and Clint. I'll take a look
at a Torker II, Weiand Excellerator and the Edelbrock
Performer as suggested. I'll call the guy at my machine
shop on Monday too.
Can you guys tell me if these intakes
have rectangular or oval ports? I want my choice to match up well
with my rectangular port iron heads.
Any suggestions oh headers and
exhaust?
Thanks Again,
Larry

I saw the same when I was picking out an intake
for mine, so I went for a Torker II. I had it on both my 402 (with
a 750 Demon) and my 454 (850 Demon). Matched it up with a Torker
Plus cam. Been very happy with the
combination.
I'm not sure of the dimensions on the RPM and
Air gap, but I'm running a 1" spacer which probably puts it
fairly close to the height on the others.
I just read on Summit that the
Performer RPM and the Air Gap will not fit with a stock hood on a
66 or 67 Chevelle. Anybody out there using this intake with a BBS
in a 66 or 67 that can shed some light on this? Is it flat out
impossible, or are there ways to make it happen?
Thanks,
Larry
