John, All it takes to go electric is to run a
single switched 12 volt wire. I even converted my center carb of my tri power
setup on my Tempest to electric. It's a 1965 rochester two barrel. Works
great.

(Edelbrock carb)
Thanks
but then I would need a new wiring harness. Mine is not wired for electric
choke. Manual chokes come in handy sometimes. When the car was acting up a
week or two ago, the only way to keep it running was by keeping the choke on.
I would have had a much tougher time getting home if I had an electric choke.
I'm going to try the grease and wire-tie method
first.

Why not get the
electric choke kit? I have used many of these carbs including the one on my 4
wheel drive I use to push snow with, a couple pumps and it starts right up in
the coldest of weather.
