What makes a Ford 9” so bullet proof? Is it better than a 12 bolt? It must have some advantage?

Hi,

Speaking as someone who has broken many, what usually lets go in them?

I've had spider gears blow apart, ring gears shear teeth off, pinion gears shear teeth off.  The internals simply can't handle the torque a high performance engine will produce.  Granted aftermarket parts will help increase the strength, but nothing can replace what a 12 bolt will handle.  For what it costs to buy all the parts and have someone build you a rear, you can buy a 12 bolt ready to go in a car.
