Larry,
I was told by the machine/speed shop owner to set my redline at 6800, but as
you can tell by my numbers, my peak HP is at 6000... As to the carb they put
on, it was a brand I've never heard of. Of course that doesn't mean a thing
because I've been out of building cars for 25 years. I'll ask them when I
get over there in a week or so.

I got:
442hp @ 6000rpm
467fp @ 4250rpm
I hope to get better numbers after it's in the car and we can work with
the carburetor some. The guy running the dyno took my carb off and put a
custom job that was on the shelf on my engine and picked up 17 more
horses without any tweaking (469hp). I just can't afford custom stuff
like that though.
BTW, I forgot to mention I'm running L78 heads. Although I did get the
heads rebuilt, I did not have any porting or polishing done.

COMP CAMS CCA-11-430-8 MAGNUM RETRO-FIT HYD. ROLLER CAMSHAFT .566

COMP CAMS CCA-1320-16 PRO MAGNUM ROLLER ROCKERS
COMP CAMS CCA-854-16 HIGH ENERGY HYDRALIC ROLLER LIFTERS
COMP CAMS CCA-924-16 VALVE SPRINGS - DUAL
COMP CAMS CCA-7110 BILLET TIMING SET - DOUBLE ROLLER
COMP CAMS CCA-7991-1 HI-TECH 3/8 IN INTAKE PUSHRODS
COMP CAMS CCA-8900-1 HI-TECH 3/8 IN EXHAUST PUSHRODS
Good numbers! What carb type and size did they try to get the
extra HP? Does anyone out there get 7K rpm with a roller hyd cam?

65 SS 427
I also used...
All new ARP fasteners
870 Holley Street Avenger carb
Edlebrock Performer RPM intake
Mallory Comp9000 distributor
Misc other parts like oil pump, harmonic balancer, etc.
Including the cost of machine work on my block and heads,
balancing, and a used forged crank and the work on it, I spent
around $5000. I assembled the engine myself.

Thanks Clint..It seems like I spent 2500 blue printing and
balancing that 400..What about a roller cam? not really
familiar with them, but hear a lot of talk about them..I'll
keep you posted..I really want to put the 396 back in there..tom
