I have found VIN's in a few other places. On top of the cowl under the cowl
vent cover, stamped into the firewall top. Also on the firewall near the
heater fan cover, this one can only be found by removing the fender. And if
the trans is original it should also be stamped with the VIN. I was
verifying numbers matching status for a customer this week on his 69 Camaro
and the VIN was at all these locations.

Dale is correct. On the top of the rear frame arms. And yes..you need
some body separation to read it clearly.

Typical location is on top the frame rail behind the rear axle on the
driver's side. Some 70s also have been found in the same location on the
passenger side and some Elkys have been found on the right front frame
rail.
Depends on what year and what assembly plant. If on the rear, almost
impossible to read without lifting the body.
