I'm done a couple 4 speed conversions...pretty straight forward especially
if you don't have to weld the z-bar bracket to the frame (I believe a '68
frame is drilled and tapped).

As far as going to a Tremec, I did that conversion last year. It all depends
on what you want, how you plan to drive it, and how much you want to spend.

Subject: [Chevelle-list] 4-speed?

Hi guys... I'm REALLY wanting to convert my '68 to a stick...
I'm NOT restoring, but AM on a budget. Car is mainly going to be a
cruiser. I don't expect to ever have more than 450-500HP.
I'm wanting advice on whether to go with an old style 4-speed,
or a new style trans. A Tremec would be nice, but WAY pricey...
What do you guys recommend??

Thanks!

Ron
