Funny you said that. We were at my uncles when I was very young. He had an electric wire around the hog pens…they kept breaking out, but the hot wire kept them in. Well….while looking at hogs, my uncle got the urge to urinate…..He whipped out his pocket pal and started to let fly….The stream accidentally hit the electric wire hooked to a 110 Volt outlet. All of a sudden we heard a loud scream, and the next thing we know my uncle was laying flat on the ground, with his weenie still out and pee all over his britches!(GRIN) Sorry for the story, but I just had to!!(LOL)

I learned the same thing, the same way.  Only difference was that I was leaning against the front fender, and apparently my little mechanic was the path of least resistence / ground.    OUCH!!
I remember the day quite clearly, and will NEVER touch a plug wire or distributor while leaning against the car!!

I learned of arching wires the hard way.  16 yrs old ( now 41), 62 Catalina (still have it) adjusting timing (during the day) loosen distributor and grabbed the top to adjust    ahhh - learned to respect it and changed the wires.

Here's a tip. Be sure to open your hood in the dark every once in a while. It's a great way to see if any of your ignition wires are arcing.
