You guys might want to check you State's laws before you alter the switches; may not be legal.

I had that same question in the mid 70's when I was an electronics tech school student. I wanted to
make my parking lights stay on. So on my '65 I removed the headlight switch to see what I could do.
I noticed a small brass shorting bar on the switch's pins. After poking around with a meter I found
that I could move a lug in the connector to the pin over the shorting bar. It took working the lug out
of the connector with a paper clip and putting it back in the right hole. I added those amber bulbs
to the front and my parking lights have come on with the headlights for years.

Never really paid much attention but were any pre-68 cars designed to have the parking lights on at the same time as the headlamps?  I figured that is how they got the moniker of ?parking lights? ?  Curious minds want to know.
That's a good question Dale.  I first noticed this while fixing some wiring on a 66 Malibu, I couldn't figure out why the parking lights wouldn't come on with the headlights, but came on by themselves.  It was perplexing at the time, then I found out that's the way they are.  I'm going to do some research and find out if any pre 68 Fords or Mopars do the same thing.
