explains a little about the Heavy Chevy option in 71/72. According to the
page, the 454 was not offered on this model. Many Heavy Chevy’s were
cloned into SS cars since many of the options were already there. A quick
check of the VIN or even the Fisher Body plate will confirm the makeover as,
like stated below, the HC was based of the Chevelle (models 133xx/134xx for 71 or
1C3xx for 72) and not the Dale McIntosh From:

Behalf Of Carl Ziegler Offered mid year71 and all of 1972. It started as a poor man's SS
so to speak and was a sporty option that supposedly didn't attract higher
insurance rates. It was off the base Chevelle platform while the SS was
off the Yahoo!
