Herb,
This is what I got from them last night...

Information
Thank you for your interest in HeaderSockets.
General:
These are an extremely high quality American-made tool series. They have
been designed
for the sole purpose of removing spark-plugs in all exhaust side
applications. The tool series
is not designed for deep well valve-cover and intake side work. They are
produced in-house on
our Haas CNC equipment. All HeaderSockets are made from 4130 Aircraft Grade
Chrome-Moly. They are black-oxide coated and laser marked.
The tools come with a 1 year warranty from date of purchase.
The slotted sockets are NOT designed for use with an impact and will NOT be
warrantied if physical signs of abuse are evident. The sockets internal hex
exhibits signs of deformation if overloaded. The sockets are designed for
30 lbs/ft of torque. Most spark-plugs torque at 18 to 22 lbs/ft.
NOTE:
*HeaderSockets are designed for use in NORMAL spark-plug removal and
installation. They are NOT intended to remove seized spark-plugs. If a
spark-plug is seized, soak with a penetrant and try to loosen. If the
spark-plug will start to move, work it back and forth and apply more
penetrant. DO NOT BREAK THE CERAMIC!!! You could drop ceramic into the
inside of the engine! Then you won't be happy..Engine damage will result if
an engine is even turned over with ceramic inside the cylinder. If you
still can't get the spark-plug to move, then the exhaust must be removed to
gain access to get a full spark-plug socket or equivalent installed. After
the seized plug is removed, chase the threads and make sure a new spark-plug
will thread by hand. Use a small amount of thread lubricant to allow a good
torque and to protect threads from moisture wicking. We prefer to use a
SMALL amount of ARP moly, instead anti-seize, just enough to color the
threads. Keep the moly off the end of the spark-plug and electrode that
protrude into the engine and also off the spark-plug seat that mates to the
cylinder head as neither moly nor anti-seize is electrically conductive.
There are 8 sockets available in the series, with 6 part #'s.
The HS58-S contains an HS58-1, 5/8" slotted short socket and a HS58-2, 5/8"
slotted
mid socket and are sold as a set. The HS58-3 is a 5/8" full-length
traditional type
socket that is slotted with a 3/8" square drive. And lastly, the HS58-4, a
5/8" full-length
low profile traditional type socket that is NOT slotted and also contains a
3/8" square-drive.
The same series is available in 13/16" as well.
The series is designed as a graduated length series to allow the tech to
decide which
Socket will fit his application best.
NOTE: * The 3/8" square-drive does NOT contain a ratchet lock by design.
* Pricing includes twist-lock case.
Pricing is as follows:
Item
Price
HS58-S, short (1.250") & mid (1.750") set $44.95
HS58-3, full-length (2.450") slotted, w/ sq drive $44.95
HS58-4, full-length (2.450") low profile, w/ sq drive $39.95
---------
HS1316-S, short (1.250") and mid (1.750") set $49.95
HS1316-3, full-length (2.450") slotted, w/ sq drive $49.95
HS1316-4, full-length (2.450") low profile, w/ sq drive $44.95
Features:
Here are some of the highlights of the tool series.
* The OD is back-cut and counter sunk so a tech can easily hold on to the
socket while engaged in very awkward positions.
* The back-cut is textured all the way back thru the external
hex drive. Again, this feature
is to allow the tech to be able to grip the tool if he may have
slight oil or greasy dirt on his
fingers.
* The external hex-drive has been has been lengthened and
recessed to allow for
greater wrench access while being able to maintain higher
deflection angles.
* The unique slotting shortens the effective length of the
socket permitting greatly
increased tool access. With this feature, the short sockets in
both 5/8" & 13/16"
are able to load onto the spark-plug with less than .500"
clearance between
the end of the spark-plug tip and header tube or any other
obstruction.
* The thru-hole design on the short and mid sockets will
alleviate the problem that
traditional style sockets have. That is, they can jam as the
spark-plug is un-screwed.
* There is NO ratchet detent to hold the ratchet onto the
socket. This allows for
easy component break-down, i.e.. removing an extension or
ratchet, with one hand
while working in extremely tight areas with only enough room for
one hand.
* Another added benefit, is that, the area of the slot is milled
down which allows
much easier engagement of the tools onto spark-plugs that are
shrouded by
heat-shields.
* These tools are designed from the engines exhaust side
perspective. They are NOT
designed for valve-cover or intake side use.
Popular Applications:
* Any racing application with restrictive access due to exhaust
headers.
* GM's S-10 series, Camaro & Corvette.
* Tight Mini-Van applications, Aerostar, Astro and others.
* Most FWD V-6's, especially on the firewall side.
* Many Asian applications, both RWD and FWD. Depends on
obstructions.
* GM's 7.4L full size trucks with heat-shields.
* Many marine situations with tight hulls and / or performance
exhaust.
* Motocross and street bikes.
* Other various industrial equipment.
** Some of the applications that brought forth the initial
design are.....
+ Sportsman Drag Racing
+ IMCA Modifieds
+ Sprint Cars
+ All Dirt and Asphalt Circle Track Divisions
+ NASCAR
+ Muscle Cars
+ Motocross, primarily two-strokes
+ Performance Boats
+ Trucks & 4x4's with headers
+ RV's
+ Dealership Line Techs and all Independent repair
shops.

I will get back to you ASAP.
Thank you again,
