Sounds like sucking air at the carb./manifold.
My best guess is the new carb.throttle body is warped or the gasket to manifold 
is not matching both carb. and intake manifold. Have encountered those problems 
myself over the years and makes a whistling sounds.
I presume you connected all hoses and they are tight. Hope one of these 
suggestions cures the problem.   gm66

I just swapped edelbrock carbs (750 to a 600cfm).  I'm running an old 350.
I could swear I hooked it up right but when I start it I get a high pitched
whining sound.  I've never heard it before and I can't really locate a
source fast enough before the engine dies.  Anyone ever had this problem?
