If you have a vacuum leak big enough to stall the engine I would first look to see if you have any open vacuum ports on the carburetor. Some carburetors have a large vacuum port in the throttle plate at the rear of the carb.

Subject: [Chevelle-list] New Carb sound

I just swapped edelbrock carbs (750 to a 600cfm).  I’m running an old 350.  I could swear I hooked it up right but when I start it I get a high pitched whining sound.  I’ve never heard it before and I can’t really locate a source fast enough before the engine dies.  Anyone ever had this problem?

Thanks,

JB
