I don’t think that’s enough backspacing for 15x8 ARE wheels without some mods to the front lip.  I tried 15x8 ARE Outlaw I’s on the front of my 67 and they rubbed when turning – had to go back to 15x7 for the front.  My 15x8 rally wheels would work on the front but not the 15x8 ARE wheels.

What backspace does your new wheels have? If we know that,we can give you a much better idea of what will fit,Dave.

Ok guys I need your help.  I have ordered some 15x8 Americans for my 66.  I currently have the tires and wheels from the Corvette on the Chevelle, 225 70 R15,

However,  the front tires are rubbing on the inner fender well and htting the bottom/back of the fender.  Since I need to order new tires, would you guys give me the benefit of your experience on tires.  The car is going to be driven on the street, 4 speed, Ptrack.  Thanks again
