[Chevelle-list] Engine Mount Question

When I installed my big block, I had to buy a set up upper engine mounts. I bought a big block set, then discovered that the ones I got did not couple correctly with the chassis mounts. The upper mounts were too big. I tool one of the chassis mounts off and took it to a local parts store. We discovered the engine mounts that fit my chassis mount was identified to fit a 327. I guess the previous owner must have installed a small block at one time or another. Remembering a thread on the list where people said both will work, except the engine would sit a bit lower with the small block mounts, I bought a set of small block engine mounts and installed the engine.   I have since discovered  I need the engine to sit 1/2 to 1 inch higher to address my header clearance issues. I'm assuming if you set the SB and BB chassis mounts down side by side, the "hump" where the engine mount couples with the chassis mount would be larger and taller, raising the engine a bit?   I appreciate your comments,   Larry Shouse
