It should be Snug fit. I use a flare nut wrench or box wrench as a tool to
SEAT the tubes expanded seal lip to the block surface. I personally never
liked the RTV as a leak preventer on A dipstick tube. Why because dropping
a set of headers with a stuck dip-stick tube , makes for a frustrating
afternoon BTDT.
For some aftermarket read "Sloppy fit" tubes I have used a small OD O ring
as the anti leak FIX.

Hi Guys,
When installing the engine oil dipstick tube in my new 350, is it supposed
to somehow be pressed in the block more than hand tight? The retainer tab
to a manifold bolt lines up with it when just stuck in. Is this right?
You'll be glad to know that my silicone plug wires do not contact the
exhaust manifolds.
Thanks,
