[Chevelle-list] DYNO NUMBERS

Our club had a dyno pull this Saturday and I was wondering if these numbers sound right to ya'll. Showed 243 hp and 301 tq. Motor is origional 396/402 350 hp in my 70 SS Chevelle. Have a TH400 trans with no A/C. Rebuilt motor back to stock specs about 7 years ago. Does this sound right? Lot of guys were saying dyno was off because dyno indicated their motors were not as strong as they thought. I had hoped mine had a little more power, around 280. Also a while back there was some discussion regarding gas tank caps. When parked on a incline gas leaks out around the gas cap. I got the impression it should be a non-vented cap from discussion on list. My gas cap reads "anti-surge" on top and "vented" on bottom with an "s" stamped on center rivit holding back side to cap. I don"t remember having replaced this cap before, but might have. Which one is correct for my vehicle? Thanks, Les.
