Subject: [Chevelle-list] Centerlink

I had a few questions I thought I would run by you guys....

Would I be better off replacing my original center link or just clean it up, maybe replace the ends and re-use it?  What have some of you guys done?

If the centerlink is worn out there is no way the replace the ends on it. If it's worn out which most are after 35 years, replace it. There is no advantage to retaining parts like that because of originality.

Can someone explain why the front control arms need to have the little teeth on them under the head?  When I replace them should I use the same kind or can I get by with regular bolts?

The teeth on the shaft of the bolts for the upper A-arms are so they press into the holes on the frame. This is needed so they won't spin when you tighten nuts on them later. You can't reach the bolt head to hold it when the A-arm is on.

Also.....Im looking at painting my rims (71 SS rims)  I am considering using the original gray color. Does anyone know the name of that color and maybe where I can see a good picture of some rims?

Most of the restoration stores carry this color in a spray bomb. Groundup, Year One, OPG.

Thanks
Ryan

Hope this helps,
