I think your SOL regarding buying just the TOP bearing, it's an integral part of the turn signal switch. " to much side movement" it this movement felt/observed with the steering wheel and column complete? Why I ask is the installation of the steering wheel and spring preloads the upper and lower bearings. the preload is determined by the spring &steering wheel and the clamp location at the bottom of the steering column @ the bearing/seal .

Does anyone have the GM part number for the upper bearing for a floor
shift 1966 steering column? I don't want to have to buy a compete turn
signal assy just to get a bearing.   My bearing appears OK, but there is
too much side to side movement.  I am hoping some one has the part
number or a place where I can get a new one.  Thanks  David
