No,it isn't wine but it is the life blood of an internal combustion engine. I would rather change the oil at the interval that most fleet mangers recommend than buy a new engine. Oil doesn't disipate but it does get contaminated with dirt,water and gasoline etc. gm66

However,the small synthetic companies often don't submit theirs for testing because of the high cost of doing so. Oil in a sealed container will probably outlive you.
