I suggest you take it to someone who has the knowledge. Experimenting with

No not all are the same.  Check the size of the pin that goes through the 
cluster gear.  It holds needle bearings in place in the cluster.  Early 
Muncies were 7/8th in. while later were a full 1 inch.  You will have to 
match that part to use your cluster gear etc.  Also, be careful that there 
is not excessive wear where the cluster shaft goes through the case at the 
front.  Often due to hard use many early cases were "stretched" there and 
you don't want to deal with that.  There is of course a way to fix it but it 
is more trouble and expense.  Hope this helps!
