Out here in California where it never gets close to freezing, I also use 100% distilled with a bottle of WaterWetter.  My Chevelle pretty much always runs at thermostat temperature, so I can't say I saw a drop in max temperatures.  The biggest help is that water is a better conductor of heat than antifreeze, and the less antifreeze you have the better your cooling system will work.

Antifreeze does two things that you need.  One is freeze protection, and the other is lubrication of your water pump.  You need something to lubricate, so you can't use pure water.  Use as little antifreeze as you can (based on their mix ratios), or use an additive that has lubricants, such as WaterWetter.

Not Mike but I used it in both my ZR-1 Corvettes. Good stuff. If used according to directions, you can plan on a 10-20 degree drop in temps. During the summer,I ran 100% distilled water with one or two bottle of Waterwetter.
There's a bottle of it in my El Camino's radiator now, too.
