I appriciate your input. I was thinking more power, also my 283 leaks and burns oil  pretty bad so rather than rebuilding it i thought i would be better off just replacing it. and i also thought, if i spent the money to rebuild it, would i be sastisfied with the power. John, have you done any upgrades to your 283? i.e. headers,differant heads, intake, carberator, and is there enough torque to smoke the tires. and do you think it would be more costly to rebuild or replace it. I heard from several people that the 283 is a good engine so iam still unsure of which road to take.
