It seems that Flowmaster has done away with the 30 series for 2007. The 17119 Chevelle kit now ships with 40 series mufflers, which are 4" shorter. I've been told by Flowmaster that the pipes have not been changed and that the H pipe just sits a little farther back and you make up for it on the intermediate pipes. I just took a look at my El Camino and the H-pipe sits almost right under the front U-joint, which is great for allowing driveshaft clearance when the car is on a lift or testing the limits of the suspension. I have to wonder if moving the H 4" back will make any difference.

So far it seems that the good news is that those of you who used to want to swap the 30s that the 17119 kit came with for 50s can still swap the 40s for 50s if your dealer will let you, because the pipes have not changed. I have 50s on my El Camino and want to put them on my Chevelle too. They are loud enough for my small block cars. The El Camino kit (17120) has always come with 50s and still does.
