Honestly Dale, I think it came loose with the fasteners I used from O'Reily's. I turned in reports to the El Campo Police, the Wharton Police, the Dept of Public Safety and the DMV. Maybe someone will find it on the road, but I have doubts. I traced my Path and have seen nothing.
What kills me was the plate was the original and I had it refurbished and was so happy with the results. The plate was on the truck when they did a photo shoot of it years ago, so it did have some significance. It was also legally registered to use on the road! I think I have found another original 1946 plate in San Antonio but I have heard the cost is close to $175. Damn I wish I would have the original or someone would find it! Thanks for the concern! I'll know better next time and will double nut the bolt that holds on the plate! I put it on the truck the other day, used some fasteners from O'Reily's that where plastic with red reflectors on one side! I went to El Campo and back to Wharton, and it was gone! I retraced my route in the truck today and found nothing! What really makes it sad is the plate was the original one with the truck and was used in a magazine article! Oh well it's just a plate. If anyone hears of someone that has a 1946 Texas license plate for sale. Please keep me in mind! Dan Mascheck Wharton, TX
