I have a 1970 Malibu and have been able to purchase an original clock that the appearance is perfect and I now have it in changing it to a quartz movement. My question is to install the clock in a car with a Malibu dash do you have to drop the steering column and remove the dash to install the clock or can you access the correct area and install the clock by removing the dash pad?
Second question is I want to repaint the dash with the original color. I have found thru a PPG tech sheet that the color for the dash pad is Dark Saddle and the dash itself is Medium Saddle. I can purchase the Dark Saddle in spray cans, as well as Saddle, but can not find the Medium Saddle in any form, spray cans, pints, quarts, or gallons. I really need the spray cans if possible. Does anyone know of anyplace that I might be able to get a few spray cans of Medium Saddle? I have tried all of the various restoration type companies, but none that I know of handle this color of paint for 1970 Chevelle's. I was told quite a few years ago that there was a place on the southwest side of Chicago that would match colors and put them in spray cans, but I can't remember who they were or what town they were in if they are still in business. Any help will really be appreciated. Chuck Speake 1970 Chevelle Malibu Glen Ellyn, IL
