I'm rebuilding the front end of my 64SS. The centerlink has a bad joint so is one of the main reasons. Checking my stash of good used centerlinks I knew I had to check for 13/16" or 7/8" diameter to ID which one I could use. (13/16" = 1st design, 7/8" = 2nd design) My understanding was the 13/16" used the idler and pitman arm with the smaller hole to match smaller stud size, and the 7/8" centerlink uses larger studs to mount to idler and pitman arms. So now I have a 13/16" and a 7/8' link which both use the smaller sized studs. Hadn't seen that before. I bet that would cause a bunch of confusion at the parts store. Just thought you'd want to know! : )
