I've had to use a hydraulic press in the past to crack them loose...  
If you have access to one of those it's pretty easy...  just support the arm 
well and pop them apart.

  When I changed out my steering box I was unable to budge the pitman.  Dropped 
it off with my alignment guys (G & S Automotive) and picked it up the next day. 
 Told them I would be back in a few days for alignment and they did not charge 
me for pulling the pitman.  I'm sure someone on the list will have a home
