I brought this up once before and people seemed to be interested, but
I didn't have my proverbial ducks in a row at the time.
My motorcycle list has a "roadbook" that is downloadable in PDF form
and password protected. The idea is that you keep it in the vehicle
and if you get stuck, hopefully someone in the area can help.
If you want to be listed, send your name, city, state, country, phone
numbers that you want to list (indicate H for home, C for Cell, W for
work, P for pager) and the services you can offer:
a - travel advice
o ? help in emergency only
b ? sheltered bedroll space (living rm floor, etc.)
c ? camping or tent space
r ? spare room
p ? some parts available
d ? distance in miles willing to travel to help (example D50 = 50 miles) OR
d? ? distance depends on situation and time
v ? vehicle storage space
t ? tow truck or trailer available
m ? mechanical help offered
e ? electrical assistance available
s ? workspace available
x ? hand tools available (x because it looks like a lug wrench)
h - "heavy" (professional) tools available (lift, air tools, welder, etc.)
Comments - a sentence or two on anything else that you'd like to add
that might help a list member in distress.
I would also like to list professional shops & services that are
recommended by list members in case you can't contact a list member in
the area, or your situation is beyond what a local list member can
help with.
I'm open to suggestions for improvement on the idea as well. If you
are listed in the book, the URL and password will be emailed to you. I
will also leave the latest update date and a contact email address on
the download page so that if you are in the book but forgot the
password, you can request an updated copy at any time.
