Disconnect the battery. Use a piece if wire like an unbent paper clip to press into the hole at the front of the switch. Insert the key and turn to the Acc. position and a little beyond that. The lock cylinder will come out. Unscrew the switch retaining ring. The switch can now be removed from the dash. Use two screw drivers or any desired method to spread both retaining clips of the switch's electrical connector while unplugging the connector.
Note: There should be a mention of reconnecting the battery in the replacement switch's installation instructions. ;)
